BUFFALO, N.Y. -
BGSU's 69-65 win was just the Falcons' second road win of the year, and the first in Mid-American Conference play.
BGSU swept the season series with Buffalo, and the overall series between the teams is now tied, 4-4 . . . the Falcons are 2-2 in games at Alumni Arena.
The Falcons do not trail in the all-time series with any MAC foe, the only conference school that can make that claim . . . BGSU's series with UB (4-4) and Northern Illinois (9-9) are tied, and the Falcons lead each of the series with the other 10 league schools.
BGSU made a season-high 10 three-point field goals in Saturday's win at UB . . . the Falcons' .476 percentage from long range (10-of-21) is the team's second-highest of the season.
The Falcons turned the ball over just 10 times at UB, tying a season-low . . . the Brown and Orange also committed just 10 turnovers in the season opener at Youngstown State (Nov. 17) . . . perhaps not coincidentally, that YSU game marked BGSU's only other road win of the year to date.
Sophomore Stefanie Wenzel had her fifth 20-point game of the season, with 21 points at UB . . . Wenzel tied her career high by making five three-point field goals, and set a new personal best with eight total field goals made . . . her previous records were amassed in the Falcons' first win over Buffalo this year (71-69 at Anderson Arena, Jan. 12).
Head coach Curt Miller altered his starting lineup for the first time since mid-December . . . redshirt sophomore Pam Brown drew the start at UB, and responded with nine points and six rebounds . . . sophomore Kelly Kapferer, who had started the previous 16 games, came off the bench to total six points, five rebounds (including three at the offensive end), an assist and a blocked shot in 14 minutes.
Junior Megan Jerome drained her only field-goal attempt, a three-pointer . . . after going 4-of-26 from three-point range over the season's first 19 games, Jerome is 3-of-3 from long distance in the past two contests.
BGSU allowed UB to make just six second-half baskets, tying a season low . . . the Falcons also held IPFW (Nov. 29) to only six baskets in the first half of that game . . . prior to the IPFW contest, BG had not limited an opponent to so few baskets in a half since at least the 1995-96 season.
Buffalo's Kate McMeeken-Ruscoe had 10 points in the first 4:51 of Saturday's game, but did not score a point in the final 35:09 of the contest . . . teammate Virginia Jennings had eight points, eight assists and four rebounds at the half, but did not have a single rebound or assist in the final 20 minutes.
Junior Kim Griech shattered her previous single-game highs for free throws made (9) and attempted (10) . . . Griech made only one field goal on the night, a three-pointer, but still finished in double digits with 12 points.
