KALAMAZOO, Mich. - Host Western Michigan University won at every flight for a 7-0 victory over the Bowling Green State University women's tennis team Friday afternoon (March 29). The Broncos improve to 7-9 in dual-match play and 2-1 in Mid-American Conference action, while the Falcons drop to 1-13 and 0-2, respectively.
In doubles, the Broncos' top team of Frederika Girsang and Melanie Remynse posted a narrow 8-6 decision at the top flight over senior Devon Bissinger and freshman Susan Schoenberger. BGSU's other doubles teams consisted of sophomores Lisa Maloney and Gaby Coello at the second flight, and junior Alyson Gabel and sophomore Jessica Johnson at the third level.
In singles action, Maloney extended Girsang to a third set at the top flight before succumbing. BGSU's other competitors were, in order, Bissinger, Schoenberger, Gabel, Coello and freshman Laura Kokinda.
The Falcons will return to action with a Saturday (March 30) dual match against Northern Illinois University. That contest concludes a nine-match, two-month stretch which saw the Falcons play away from home. BGSU is scheduled to return to home action with an April 5 contest against the University of Toledo.
