Bowling Green, Ohio - Bowling Green State University's Kelly Hunt was named Mid-American Conference East Division Player of the Week on Mondayfor the second time in three weeks.
Hunt batted .619 (13-for-21) in five games last week for the Brown and Orange, helping the Falcons to a 5-0 record, including a four-game sweep of visiting Marshall. The Toledo Central Catholic graduate smacked four home runs and drove in an amazing 17 runs while scoring 10 times. Hunt had a career-high six RBIs against Marshall on April 19 and finished the week with a 1.286 slugging percentage. The junior also completed the week error-free in 42 chances at first base.
He leads the MAC in hits (57) and RBIs (52), while he is third with a .422 batting average. With 12 homers and 52 RBIs, Hunt is on the verge of breaking the school records established last season by Lee Morrison (16 homers and 63 RBIs). He is among the nation's best in both categories.
