Tuesday Home Game Against Dayton Set For 3 p.m. First Pitch
BOWLING GREEN, Ohio – The Bowling Green State University baseball team enters the week with a pair of midweek contests on deck. The Falcons will begin at home on Tuesday (April 14) for a 3 p.m. first pitch against Dayton. From there, the Orange and Brown will hit the road for the first of five games away from Steller Field. The road trip will begin in Buffalo, N.Y. against Canisius on Wednesday (April 15) with a 3 p.m. start. Mitta Making Most Of Opportunities
Anthony Mitta has been one of BGSU's most consistent batters over the last couple weeks, boasting an eight-game hitting streak that began on March 27 against Northern Illinois. During the eight-game stretch, Mitta is slashing an impressive .483/.545/.828 with 14 hits in 29 at-bats. He's tallied eight RBI and scored seven times while registering four doubles and two home runs during the stretch. Mitta's offensive line during the eight-game span wraps up with four walks, two stolen bases and just seven strikeouts.
Scouting Dayton
Since the meeting earlier this season between Bowling Green and Dayton, the Flyers have posted a record of 6-12, including dropping a three-game sweep to Saint Joseph's this past weekend. The last win for Dayton came in their midweek last week on April 8 against Toledo with a 9-5 victory over the Rockets. Dayton also lost a pair of midweeks to Miami (OH), including a 14-4 run rule loss on March 24. The game against BGSU will be the first of two midweek games for Dayton, hosting Wright State on Wednesday (April 15).

Scouting Canisius
Canisius will enter the game against Bowling Green with a 10-18 record on the season while being 7-8 within the MAAC. The Golden Griffins are coming off a pair of losses, dropping a doubleheader to Niagara on Saturday (April 11). The losses ended a stretch where Canisius won four out of give, including an 11-0 shutout against Saint Peter's on April 2. The game against Bowling Green will be the only midweek contest for the Griffins.

DiLodovico Doing It All At The Plate
Andrew DiLodovico is currently in the midst of a team-best 16-game on-base streak that dates back to March 13. During that span for DiLodovico, he's hitting .333 with a full slash line of .333/.443/.509. He's tallied 19 hits, seven hit-by-pitches and five walks during the streak. In addition to his ability to get on base, DiLodovico has scored 13 times with 11 RBI while striking out just 10 times during the 16-game span. He's added two doubles, a triple and two home runs all while maintaining a perfect fielding percentage defensively and just two passed balls behind the dish.
Totaling Up The Triples
This season, the Falcons have knocked 10 triples as a team, coming from nine different players. The total has BGSU ranked second in the MAC, behind only Ball State's 12, while also being 40th in the nation. The 10 triples for the Orange and Brown has already matched last year's total with 21 games still left on the schedule. For the Falcons, Zack Horky is the lone player with multiple (2) while the list of one triple includes Brayden Curlis, Andrew DiLodovico, Pauly Mancino, Anthony Mitta, Carter Mottice, Vinny Salvione, Griffin Scheiderer and TJ Takats.
Striking Out The Competition
So far this season, BGSU has posted 14 different pitching outings with 5+ strikeouts. Ethan Stade leads the way with five followed by three from Jacob Turner. Nate Kress and Carrson Sova have both produced two with the list rounding out with one from both Jackson Miller and Ty Roder. As a team, the Falcons are averaging 10.0 strikeouts per nine innings with 306 on the year. On the current pace with 54 games on the schedule, Bowling Green will total 500 strikeouts this year, which would obliterate the program record, set last year, at 431. BGSU has set a new team strikeout record each of the last two seasons, registering 403 in 2024. Prior to 2024, the record had been set at 368 since 1999.
