Hudak and Knoblauch Named MAC Players of the Week

Cleveland, Ohio - Bowling Green State University third baseman Andy Hudak and starting pitcher Kyle Knoblauch were named the Mid-American Conference East Division Hitter and Pitcher of the Week on Monday night (May 13).
Both players led the Falcons to three wins last weekend over East-leading Kent State, moving BGSU to within one and a half games of the Flashes. It was the first series win for BGSU over KSU in 13 years.
Hudak paced the offensive attack by batting .625 (10-for-16) with nine RBIs, seven runs scored, three doubles and two homers in four games. He finished with the weekend with a 1.188 slugging percentage. Hudak now leads all MAC hitters with a .486 batting average in league play, as well as doubles, on-base pct. and slugging pct. The sophomore is also on an eight-game hitting streak in which he is batting .519 and BGSU is 6-2. It is his first-ever MAC Player of the Week award.
Knoblauch pitched a complete seven-inning game on Saturday vs. Kent State in a 7-2 Falcon victory. The right-hander scattered 10 hits (nine singles) and walked just one batter while striking out three. Knoblauch improved to 5-1 on the year and 3-0 in MAC games. In MAC play, he has walked six and struck out 15. Overall, he leads the BGSU pitching staff in innings pitched (61.2), appearances (14) and starts (12). It w as his first-ever MAC Pitcher of the Week award.
Hudak is the second Falcon to be named Hitter of the Week this season. Junior Kelly Hunt is a two-time receipient of the award. Knoblauch is the first BGSU Pitcher of the Week in several years.
