Falcons Finish 8th at MAC Championships

Westerville, Ohio - The Bowling Green men's golf team finished its 2002 season on Saturday with an eighth-place finish at the four-day Mid-American Conference Championships. The Falcons carded a 306 on the final day, ending with a tournament score of 1212 (303-305-298-306). Toledo won the tournament, held at the Medallion Club in Westerville, Ohio, with a score of 1149.
Junior Adam Balls was the top Falcon finisher, tying for ninth out of the 50 golfers. Balls ended with a four-round score of 294 (71-74-75-74). Balls was named to the All-MAC second team.
Other Falcons finishers included Austin Chase (T-27th, 306), Craig Pickerel (T-27th, 306), Justin Gillham (T-41st, 313), and Brian Gerken (45th, 315).
Balls, Chase and Pickerel all return to Garry Winger's squad next season.
At the ceremonies held after the final round, senior Justin Gillham was honored with the MAC's 2002 Sportsman of the Year award.
