Falcons Open Season With Third Place Finish

Bowling Green, Ohio - The BGSU track team opened its season with a third place finish at the Perry Field House with a score of 93 points. The Falcons edged out victories over Ohio University and the University of Detroit-Mercy.
Several Falcons had impressive performances, including Amy Henry, Amber Walker, Ellen Alkire, Alicia Taylor and Mary Willems.
Senior Amy Henry (Newport News, VA) posted a time of 8.71 seconds in the 60 meter hurdles capturing first place in the event.
Sophomore Amber Walker (Detroit, MI) placed second in the 400 meter dash with a time of 58.26 seconds and finished third in the 200 meter dash with a run if 26.06 seconds.
Junior Ellen Alkire (Ft. Wayne, IN) placed third in 600 meter run with a time of 1:37.32.
Junior Alicia Taylor (Cleveland Hts., OH) blew past the competition in the 60 meter dash, capturing the title with a run of 7.84 seconds.
Senior Mary Willems (Huntington, IN) placed first in the weight toss with a throw of 17.52 meters.
Western Michigan won the meet with a score of 146 points, with Miami University placing second with a score of 131.
The Falcons return to action on January 25, when they travel to Kent State to compete in the Central Collegiate Championships.
