McLeod's Late Triple Gives T-Wolves Win, 99-98, In Columbus

COLUMBUS, Ohio (AP) - Kevin Garnett scored 30 points and rookie Keith McLeod, a former Bowling Green State University standout, hit a 3-pointer with 2.2 seconds left to give the Minnesota Timberwolves a 99-98 victory over the Milwaukee Bucks on Thursday night.
McLeod, who went undrafted after leaving Bowling Green in 2002, was mobbed by his Minnesota teammates as the final buzzer sounded after Milwaukee's Michael Redd -- playing a homecoming game on the campus of Ohio State -- missed a heave from halfcourt.
Garnett shot 12-for-18, making his first five attempts in both the first and third quarters. Sam Cassell added 21 points against the team that traded him to the Timberwolves during the offseason.
Redd led Milwaukee with 21 points and center Dan Gadzuric added 19 points and 10 rebounds. Bucks rookie T.J. Ford struggled with his shooting, going 1-for-7 from the field.
Both teams were without several key players.
Minnesota was missing Latrell Sprewell (sore Achilles' tendon), Michael Olowokandi (sore knee), Troy Hudson (flu) and Wally Szczerbiak (sore foot).
Milwaukee was without Jason Caffey (knee tendinitis), Toni Kukoc (strained groin), Joe Smith (infected toe), Brian Skinner (strained groin) and Tim Thomas (calf bruise).
Sprewell will likely remain sidelined when he returns to New York for an exhibition game Saturday against his former team.
"We'll see how he is, if he practices tomorrow," Timberwolves coach Flip Saunders said. "I'd say right now he's probably doubtful."
