Falcon Women Break Into Regional Rankings

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - The Bowling Green State University women's cross country team has broken into the regional rankings. The Falcons of head coach Cami Wells are ranked 15th in the Great Lakes Region by the Womens Intercollegiate Cross Country Coaches Association (WICCCA) in the latest poll, dated Sunday (Oct. 12).
The Falcons are coming off a tie for 11th place at the Auburn Invitational, held at the Indian Pines Golf Course in Auburn, Ala., on Friday afternoon (Oct. 12). Senior Amber Culp paced the BGSU women for the 12th consecutive race, placing 10th overall (ninth among collegiate runners) of 272 individuals in the 5,000-meter race.
Freshmen Bridget Dalic and Andrea Pollack, junior Melissa Krueger and senior Leighann Kramer rounded out the Falcons' top-five runners in the race. Junior Nicole Suitor, still coming back from an injury, was BGSU's sixth runner in the 32-team race.
The Falcons have one more meet prior to the Mid-American Conference Championships. BGSU's men's and women's squads will head to Urbana, Ill., for Saturday's (Oct. 18) Pack-It-Up Illini Challenge. The MAC Championships, which will be hosted by the University of Akron, will be held on Saturday, Nov. 1.
The latest WICCCA regional rankings follow. There are a total of 34 schools in the Great Lakes Region.
