Falcons Earn 1-0 Shutout of Birmingham-Southern

Bowling Green, Ohio - Bowling Green picked up a hard-fought 1-0 shutout of visiting Birmingham-Southern on Sunday at Mickey Cochrane Field. The only goal of the game came off the foot of sophomore Omari aldridge.
Senior Matt Martinka sent a pass into Dustin Snyder who then got it to a streaking Aldridge in the box. He shot from 10 yards out past BSC goalkeeper Gavin Long for a 1-0 lead at just 13:10. It was Aldridge's team-leading fourth goal of the season.
That would be the only scoring of the game, though ,as both defenses held their opponents in check for the remainder of the game. BSC attempted six shots on goal that were all stopped by BGSU goalkeeper David DeGraff. It marked DeGraff's fourth shutout of the season and 18th of his career. His career-best for shutouts in a season is seven in 2001. BSC's Long ended with two saves on three shots faced.
There were 49 fouls called in the game, including 29 on BGSU. BSC held the overall lead in shots (16-12) and in corner kicks (4-3).
BGSU improves to 6-5-3 overall while BSC falls to 7-3-3. The Falcons will host Oakland University on Tuesday, Oct. 21, at 3:30 p.m. at Mickey Cochrane Field.
