ANN ARBOR, Mich. - The Bowling Green State University women's tennis team saw two players qualify for back-draw finals in Saturday (Oct. 4) action at the Wolverine Invitational. The University of Michigan is hosting the three-day, seven-team invite.
Freshman Ashley Jakupcin posted a straight-sets win over Marquette's Francine Bonnelly, losing only three total games (6-2, 6-1) to advance to the back-draw finals of the 'Maize' singles flight. Jakupcin will meet Michigan State's Sarah Andrews in Sunday's (Oct. 5) action.
At the 'Wolverine' flight, sophomore Andrea Meister lost only two total games in a win over Marquette's Kristin Minkowski. Meister will face Cincinnati's Kirby Doran in Sunday's back-draw final at that flight.
The doubles team of senior Lisa Maloney and sophomore Heidi Romer beat UC's Doran and Mariana Lozano in the back draw to advance to that final. The Maloney/Romer duo will face the U-M team of Lindsay Goldstein and Debra Streifler on Sunday.
