BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - Kasey Freeman is the Bowling Green State University Scholar-Athlete of the Week. Freeman, a senior on the BGSU women's soccer team, helped the eighth-seeded Falcons reach the championship match of the Mid-American Conference Tournament.
Freeman, a native of Middletown, Ohio (Edgewood HS), anchored a defensive corps which helped the Falcons to a 2-1 win on the road vs. #1 Eastern Michigan in the quarterfinals last Tuesday (Nov. 4). That match marked the first time in MAC Tournament history that the lowest seed had beaten the highest seed.
Freeman, an apparel merchandising major, maintains a 3.22 cumulative grade point average.
BGSU ended the 2003 season with an overall record of 8-12-3, and the Falcons went 5-5-2 in MAC play. Freeman and co-captain Carrie Richards are the lone players on the 26-woman team to have completed their eligibility.
