BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - Amber Culp is the Bowling Green State University Scholar-Athlete of the Week. Culp, a senior on the BGSU women's cross country team, earned All-Mid-American Conference honors as the Falcons competed at the league meet over the weekend.
Culp, a native of Ann Arbor, Mich. (Pioneer HS), earned All-MAC First-Team honors with her fifth-place individual finish at the MAC Championship on Saturday (Nov. 1. Culp was the top finisher for the BGSU women for the 14th consecutive race, dating to early in the 2002 season.
Culp became the first Falcon to earn first-team all-league honors since Hanane Sabri and Wendy Licht-Ordway did so in 1998. Her fifth-place finish was the best by a Falcon at the league meet since that '98 campaign, when Sabri was second and Licht-Ordway third among individuals. As a team, BGSU's eighth-place finish was the team's highest since that 1998 squad won the MAC title.
Culp, a social work major, maintains a 3.16 cumulative grade point average.
The Falcons now turn their attentions to the NCAA Great Lakes Regional Championship, which will be held Sat., Nov. 15, in Terre Haute, Ind.
