BUFFALO, N.Y. -
BGSU HEAD COACH CURT MILLER:
"Buffalo played very well offensively in the second half. To their credit, they made some good adjustments. I felt like maybe we played zone a little bit too long, but we were so worried about their inside game, and we were in a little bit of foul trouble. But, they just pound the ball inside."
"We knew tonight's game would be decided by the style of play. We made 'threes' and it became an up-tempo, more perimeter-oriented game (in the first half), and we felt like we had the advantage. But then, it became a slugfest, down inside, and they just have big body after big body. In the second half, they did a good job of getting the ball inside to (Jessica) Kochendorfer, and taking it down low."
"I'm frustrated that we didn't get more points on the fast break, and that was a point of emphasis for us. For Buffalo to have more fast-break points than us is a big disappointment, because we feel like we're the better running team. We want to run. We made 10 'threes' and people might look at the stats and think that's great. But, I thought we settled for 'threes' at times. We didn't get the same type of three-pointers that we did against Toledo. It was more like the Central Michigan game; we were standing around and not attacking the gaps and penetrating."
"I came out of halftime feeling good that we had the lead, despite three of our shooters -- Kim Griech, Marisa Smith and Stefanie Wenzel -- going a combined 1-for-12. You don't expect to be in the game if they're shooting like that. So, I thought we were in good shape, but we could just never get some of those kids untracked."
(On the upcoming Miami game:) "We have a team of character. We have not found an answer on the road yet. We're 0-6 on the road (in MAC play), but we're 3-1 at home, with the loss coming, basically, in the last 10 seconds of the game. We feel confident in Anderson Arena, and we're certainly going to have our game faces on and be ready to play. Miami is talented enough to win the league, but hasn't had a great season up to now. We have to take them very seriously, because they are extremely talented. But, hopefully, we will get a big crowd out to Anderson Arena for the second half of (Saturday's) doubleheader, and feel good about being back at home, and do our best."
