BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - Kathy Emerson is the Bowling Green State University Scholar-Athlete of the Week. Emerson, a senior on the BGSU gymnastics team, had a pair of season bests as the Falcons competed at the 18th annual Fox Run Invitational.
Emerson, a native of Findlay, Ohio, posted new season-bests with a mark of 9.725 on the balance beam and a 9.650 on the vault in the meet, hosted by New Hampshire. She was the top Falcon on both events.
The Falcons finished fourth in the event, with a team score of 190.900. Michigan State won the event, followed by UNH and George Washington.
Emerson, a physical therapy major, has 3.37 cumulative grade point average through the fall, 2002, semester.
The Falcons of head coach Dan Connelly return to Mid-American Conference action this weekend, playing host to Ball State in a Sunday (Feb. 23) contest. The meet is set for 2:00 p.m. inside the Eppler Center.
