
Falcons Drop Road Game to Lake Superior, 2-0

Sault Ste. Marie, Mich. - Lake Superior goalie Matt Violin recorded a game-high 31 saves and held Bowling Green scoreless for the first time this season in a 2-0 Laker victory on Friday night. The Falcons held a 31-19 shot advantage for the game, including 28-8 over the final two periods, but could not register a goal.
LSSU, which moved to within four points of BGSU for 11th place in the Central Collegiate Hockey Association standings, got on the board first at 15:19 of the first period. Nathan Ward scored his sixth goal of the season for a 1-0 Laker lead after he picked up the puck off of a Falcon turnover. LSSU held a 11-5 shot advantage in the first period.
The Lakers built its lead to 2-0 when Adrian Kremblewski netted his third goal of the season at 1:43 of the third period. Alex Dunn and Warn assisted on the goal.
BGSU held a 14-4 advantage in shots for the second period and a 12-4 advantage in the third period. Both teams were 0-for-4 on their power play with the Falcons holding a 6-2 shot advantage with the man advantage. Five different Falcons ended with three shots on goal in the game while all but two players had a shot attempt.
Senior Tyler Masters ended with 17 saves on 19 shots faced in 58:10 of action. He was pulled for the final 1:50 of the game to give the Falcons an extra attacker. It was the third-straight appearance where Masters allowed three or less goals.
The Falcons drop to 7-21-3 overall and 4-18-3 in the CCHA.
The two teams finish its two-game series tomorrow night at Taffy Abel Arena with faceoff scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
