Falcons Fall to Cal Poly, 13-2

Fresno, Calif. - Cal Poly scored runs in six of nine innings on Tuesday afternoon in defeating Bowling Green, 13-2, in the Pepsi/Johnny Quik Classic, hosted by Fresno State University. Cal Poly broke open a one-run game with four runs in the top of the fourth inning and went on to post the win.
BGSU (1-4) got its two runs in the bottom of the third inning, cutting Cal Poly's lead to 3-2. One of those two runs was supplied via a solo home run by first baseman Kelly Hunt, his first of the season. Hunt led BGSU with 22 home runs last season. Jeff Warnock scored the other run for the Falcons.
Hunt finished 2-for-4 at the plate with six other Falcons collecting hits. Warnock and Steve Rascka each had a double.
Sophomore Tyler Saneholtz (1-1) suffered the loss for the Falcons, pitching the first three and two-thirds innings and allowing seven runs (five earned). Saneholtz walked three and struck out three. Burke Badenhop came on in relief, pitching three and one-third inning, surrendering one run with one walk and two strikeouts. Matt Hundley, Doug Flere and Tyler Johnson also pitched in relief.
Cal Poly (12-8) stranded 10 runners while BGSU left seven on base.
BGSU drops to 1-4 overall and will play UNC Ashville tomorrow, Wednesday, at 1 p.m. (EST) at Beiden Field in Fresno, Calif.
