BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - Kerri McClung is the Bowling Green State University Scholar-Athlete of the Week. McClung, a junior on the BGSU women's track and field squad, had a solid start as the Falcons opened the outdoor portion of the 2002-03 season.
McClung, a native of Portland, Ind., won the shot put event at the Clemson Relays. McClung's throw of 47' 7.25" (14.51m) is the fifth-best in school history. The distance was nearly four feet (1.18m) better than the second-place thrower in the meet.
McClung, an early childhood studies major, has a 3.79 cumulative grade point average through the fall, 2002, semester.
The Falcons continue the outdoor season with Saturday's (March 29) Western Michigan Invitational in Kalamazoo, Mich.
