Bowling Green, Ohio - The Mid-American Conference has granted an additional season of eligibility for men's basketball players Josh Almanson and Germain Fitch who suffered season-ending injuries during the 2002-03 season for the Falcons. Both have been granted a medical harship per NCAA Bylaw 14.2.4. Almanson will have two seasons of eligibility and be a junior next season, while Fitch will have three years of competition left and will be a sophomore.
Almanson, a 6-8 forward, played in six games this season before he had surgery to repair a stress fracture in his ankle. He has averaged 5.8 points in his career and has shot 60% from the field and 77.1 from the free throw line since joining the Falcons in the 2000-2001 season. He was a member of the MAC All-Freshman team in 2001.
Fitch, a 6-5 forward, played in just two games this year before suffering a torn ACL in his knee in early December. He shot 56.9 from the floor as a freshman in 2001-02 and was averaging 6.5 points per game this year before blowing out his knee in practice.
The Falcons will return four starters from a team which advanced to the Mid-American Conference Tournament in Cleveland for the fourth straight year.
