Columbus, Ohio - The inaugural running of the NCAA Mideast Regional Championships concluded with Saturday's second day of events at Ohio State's Jesse Owens Memorial Stadium. Senior Mary Willems was the top Falcon performer with her eighth-place finish in the hammer throw.
In the hammer throw Willems had a career-best toss of 186-01, topping her previous best of 177-02, which she set two weeks ago at the MAC Championships. Willems nearly topped the BGSU school record in the hammer throw of 187-01, which was set by Lisa Keegan back in 1999.
Also on Saturday was the 3,000-meter steeple chase. Junior Amber Culp placed 18th with a time of 10:58.92.
On Friday, Junior Alicia Taylor ran a time of 14.08 in the 100-meter hurdle prelims, falling just short of qualifying for the finals. Kerri McClung placed 23rd in the shot put with a mark of 46-06, her third best performance of the season.
With the end of Regionals, the 2003 BGSU track season comes to an end.
