Falcons Finish Tied for Fourth at Hoosier Invitational

Bloomington, Ind. - The Bowling Green men's golf team finished tied for fourth place at the Hoosier Invitational, hosted by Indiana University this weekend. The Falcons finished with a three-round score of 878 (293-293-292) in the two-day tournament held in Bloomington, Ind. Host IU won the 15-team tournament with a score of 837.
Finishing just ahead of the Falcons were Austin Peay (872) and Eastern Michigan (870). Ball State was tied with BGSU for fourth place.
The team score of 878 was the lowest 54-hole score of the Fall season for the Falcons. Helping the cause was redshirt-sophomore Tommy Lopez who finished tied for 10th overall with a score of 217. Lopez carded a 70-73-74 to tie his three-round personal-best score of 217 and record his second top-10 finish in three tournaments this year.
Redshirt-senior Adam Balls and redshirt-junior Craig Pickerel each finished tied for 16th place with a score of 219. Balls shot 75-72-72 while Pickerel carded 72-74-73. Other Falcons placing for coach Garry Winger were sophomores Chris Leake (T-33rd, 224) and Heath Ziglar (T-52nd, 228).
The Falcons head to Indiana again next weekend (Oct. 4-5) when they play in the Earl Yestingsmeier Invitational, hosted by Ball State University in Yorktown, Ind.
