The Falcons rallied from a nine point deficit (43-34 with 14:49 remaining) in posting its first win on an opponents home court this season.
BGSU led 28-27 at halftime and improved to 7-1 when leading at intermission.
The Falcons have now won four straight games in the series with Akron and notched its first win at Rhodes Arena since February, 2000.
Junior John Reimold scored 19 points in the final 12:33 after being held scoreless in the first 27+ minutes of the game. His three-point shot with 8:03 left in the game, one of five for him in the second half, gave BGSU the lead for good at 57-56.
Sophomore Ron Lewis had a team-high 20 points and added five assists. He made seven of 10 free throws marking the 13th time in his career that he has attempted 10 or more free throws in a game.
Senior Kevin Netter had 14 points in 20 minutes.
Junior Cory Eyink also contributed eight points.
Sophomore Steven Wright played 40 minutes for the first time in his career and had nine points, eight rebounds three assists and three steals.
Junior Josh Almanson added four points, three assists and six rebounds. He is averaging 7.3 rebounds in the last three games.
The Falcons shot a season-high 58.7% from the field (27/46) and 57.1% (8/14) from three-point range.
BGSU has won four of its last five games. During that stretch, the Falcons are averaging 76 points on 49% shooting, including a 39.1% clip from three-point range. Reimold is averaging 19.4 points in that stretch, Lewis, 17.4 points, and Netter 14 points. Almanson leads the Falcons with 6.6 rebounds per game in that time and Wright is shooting 52.6 from the floor and has a 24/21 assist to turnover ration after starting the season with 20 assists to 31 turnovers.
