FALCONS HAVE WON FOUR OF FIVE
The Falcons have won four of their last five games after picking up a road win at Akron, 77-72, on Wednesday. BGSU is 5-1 at Anderson Arena this season. This will be the 10th game away from home for Central Michigan, who lost 90-75 at Ball State, on Wednesday. The Falcons are one of seven teams in the MAC that are at least 2-0 at home this season.
THE SERIES WITH THE CHIPPEWAS
BGSU holds a 32-26 lead in a series which began during the 1946-47 season. Last year, CMU defeated the Falcons, 88-71, in Mt. Pleasant and 87-70, in the MAC Tournament Quarterfinals enroute to winning both the regular season and post-season titles. Bill Clinton was President the last time the Chippewas played in Bowling Green. CMU took home a 92-85 victory on January 6, 2001. BGSU had won the previous nine meetings at Anderson Arena from 1990-99.
FALCONS FINDING THEIR STROKE
During the Falcons' last five games, their second-half shooting has been phenomenal. BGSU has hit on 59.1% of its shots from the floor in the second half and shot 65.2% from the field against Akron. Junior John Reimold scored all 19 of his points in the final 12:33, including five three-point baskets to fuel the Falcons comeback against Akron. Sophomore Ron Lewis had 20 points, including 16 in the second half. As a team, the Falcons shot a season-high 58.7% from the floor and 57.1% from three-point range for the entire game against the Zips.
ANOTHER ROAD COMEBACK
In garnering its first road comeback win of the season, the BGSU Falcons rallied from a nine-point deficit with 14:49 left in the game against Akron. Last year, BGSU trailed by 24 at Kent State, by 16 at Ohio, and 11 against Cleveland State before posting wins away from Anderson Arena.
WHEN SHOOTING BETTER THAN 50 PERCENT
The Falcons are 3-1 this season and 21-3 since the 2001-02 season when making more than 50% of its field goal attempts in a game. IN THE LAST FIVE GAMES
The Falcons are averaging 76.2 points per game, a 10.3 point improvement over the first 10 games of the season. Defensively, BGSU is allowing the same 70.6 points per game it did during the first 10 games of the season.
BGSU is shooting 49% from the field, an improvement from the 42.5% it shot during the first 10 games of the season. BGSU also has improved its three-point field goal shooting from 33.1% in the first 10 games to 39.1% in the last five.
BGSU is outrebounding its opponents 34.4 to 32.0 and have won the battle of the boards in four of five games.
Junior John Reimold is averaging 19.8 points and is shooting 51.5% from the field and 47.5% from three-point range. He also has 13 assists.
Sophomore Ron Lewis is averaging 17.4 points and has 15 assists to just eight turnovers. He also has averaged nine free throw attempts per game during the five-game span.
Senior Kevin Netter is averaging 14 points and is connecting on 56.5% of his field goal attempts.
Junior Josh Almanson is averaging 8.2 points and a team-leading 6.6 rebounds. He has hit 53.8% of his field goal attempts, all three of his three-point tries and leads the team with seven blocked shots.
Sophomore Steven Wright is averaging 7.8 points, 4.8 assists and is shooting 52.6% from the field. He also is second on the team in rebounding (5.4) during that time and leads the team with 12 steals.
Freshman Matt Lefeld has made five of seven shots during those games.
