Falcons Place Third In Quintangular

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - The Bowling Green State University track team placed third in their home opener on Saturday afternoon (Jan. 17) with a score of 136 points inside the Perry Field House. Miami University captured first place with 169 points and Western Michigan scored 151.50 points to squeak out second place.
Senior Alicia Taylor had an impressive showing with a first-place finish in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.53, establishing a new BGSU school record in the event, surpassing the old time of 8.62, which she set last season.
BGSU continued to place at the top of the events after senior Amber Culp paced a 17:55.91 in the 5,000-meters, 23 seconds better then the next competitor.
With a time of 1:40.08 junior Marquita McGowan placed first in the 600-meter run.
Junior Valerie Holland placed second in the 60-meter dash with a time of 7.71. Freshman Jessica White finished directly behind Holland with a time of 8.02. White also placed fourth in the 200-meters with a time of 25.82.
Freshmen Erica Wilson and Veronica Vance began their BGSU career's with a positive note. Wilson placed second in the high jump with a mark of 1.66 meters, as well as third in the long jump with a distance of 5.63 meters, while Vance placed fourth in the long jump with a mark of 11.14 meters.
The Falcons return to action next Saturday when they travel Ann Arbor, Michigan to compete in the Red Simmons Invitational. The meet is set to begin at 10:00 a.m.
