Last year, BGSU won the MAC West title and fell to Miami in the MAC Championship game. The Falcons defeated Northwestern, 28-24, in the Motor City Bowl and were ranked #23 in both major polls at the end of the season.
The Falcons have scored 16 non-offensive points in the first five games and have allowed a league-low two sacks this season.
Senior Keon Newson was named MAC West Defensive Player of the Week for the third time in his career after the Oklahoma game and junior Charles Sharon was honored as the division's Special Teams honoree after the SEMO game for the second time in his career.
Junior Steve Sanders has caught 11 passes for 210 yards and four TDs in the last two games.
Sophomore quarterback Omar Jacobs, who is in his first year as the Falcons' starting signal caller, is second in the nation in total offense (341.6), third in points responsible for (19.2) and eighth in passing efficiency (159.5). All three totals are the highest for any sophomore quarterback in the country.

HOMECOMING FOR THE FALCONS
The Falcons are 50-22-10 in Homecoming games. Last year, BGSU defeated Central Michigan, 23-3 in the annual game. After starting the season with four of five on the road, the Falcons begin a stretch of four of five at home beginning with Saturday's home game with the Cardinals. Senior Cole Magner needs 50 receiving yards and junior P.J. Pope needs 91 rushing yards to eclipse the 2,000 yard mark in a career in both categories.
BGSU athletics has sold space for 50 tailgating tents in its Meijer Tailgate Park. This breaks the previous best of 32 tents reserved for last year's BGSU/Northern Illinois game.
