DEKALB, Illinois - The Falcons return home after a 6-3 loss on the road at Northern Illinois. This loss drops the Falcons to 0-3 for MAC play.
The Huskies came out ready to play by scoring within the first three minutes. Scoring for the Huskies was Fraser Gibson at the 2:25 mark. Gibson netted the ball from 28 yards out off a free kick.
The next goal for the Huskies came at the 6:13 mark when Curt Zastrow headed the ball from eight yards out, goal was assisted by Justin McGrane. McGrane recorded his second assist of the game at the 25:43 mark when he passed to Fraser Gibson who chipped the ball passed goalkeeper Tyler Dollins.
The Huskies scored another two times before the half was up. Cody Russell scored at the 35:51 mark and Brendon Parrish scored soon after at the 36:48 mark.
The Huskies 5-0 lead after the first half didn't get Bowling Green down as they came into the second half looking to score.
Nnamdi Ihemelu stepped up for the Falcons by scoring at the 46:44 mark. This was Ihemelu's first goal of the season.
Abiola Sandy found the goal at the 56:35 mark and recorded his second goal of the season. Sandy headed the ball into the net off an assist from Jordan Koblens.
The Falcons kept the pressure on with 11 shots total in the second half and 15 in the match.
Paul Seip, who leads the team in assists, was able to find Omari aldridge off a free kick. Aldridge was able to head Seips kick into the net at the 66:24 mark.
Despite the consistent effort from Bowling Green, Northern Illinois scored one final time at the 79:22 mark. Curt Zastrow gave the Huskies their fifth and final goal as Northern Illinois walked away with the 6-3 win.
The next match for Bowling Green will be at Cochrane Stadium as the Falcons take on the Bulls of Buffalo this Sunday (Oct. 10) at 2:30 p.m.
