The Opening Tip
The Falcons are in their eighth season under head coach Dan Dakich. Dakich is second all-time at BGSU in winning percentage (.562) and fifth all-time in wins with a 117-91 record.
The Falcons are coming off a 63-51 win over UIC on Wednesday night. Bradley won at home 64-62 against Loyola-Chicago
BGSU is the top defensive team in the MAC allowing just 60 points on 36.4% shooting from the field and 20% shooting from beyond three-point range. The Falcons held UIC to an 0-15 effort from long distance on Wednesday.
The Falcons are 26-3 under Dan Dakich in non-conference games at Anderson Arena.
BGSU also improved to 23-3 since the 2001-02 season when it makes more than 50 % of its shots. The Falcons made 51.2% of its field goal attempts.
The Falcons also held the Horizon League Preseason Player of the Year, UIC's Cedrick Banks to just six points and did not allow him to make a field goal.
BGSU also outrebounded UIC, 39-34 and blocked seven shots, including three by freshman Scott Vandermeer. He leads the MAC averaging 2.0 blocks per game.
Senior Josh Almanson had his second straight dominant performance with 17 points and five rebounds. He scored six of the Falcons' first nine points. Almanson is third in the league in scoring (17.0) and field goal percentage (58.3).
Junior Germain Fitch leads the MAC in assist/turnover ratio at 8 to 1, while sophomore John Floyd is fourth with 10 assists and three turnovers.
In two games, BGSU has outscored the opposition 23-5 in the first seven minutes of the game after jumping out to a 14-3 lead against UIC.
In addition to the Braves' win over Loyola, Bradley defeated SE Missouri State, 77-73, in their season opener last weekend.
Counting exhibition games and a five-game tour of Toronto in October, this will be the 10th game for Bradley since October 9.
Bradley was picked to finish seventh in the Missouri Valley Conference this season.
Junior forward Marcus Sommerville was a pre-season All-MVC pick. He has averaged 23.5 points in the first two games of thise season after averaging 15.6 last season.
Bradley is the first MVC team to visit Anderson Arena since Evansville came to BG on November 21, 2000. The Falcons won that game, 92-87.
This will be Bradley's second visit to Anderson Arena. They opened the 1961-62 season against the Falcons in BG and fell 78-63. The Braves hold a 3-2 series lead after posting a 69-56 win in Peoria, last season.
Bradley led most of that game, but BGSU closed the gap to 56-53 with 5:01 left before the Braves pulled away.
This is one of just three non-conference road games for the Braves this season.
Coach Jim Les is in his third year at his alma mater (1985) and has guided them to a 29-34 record. Last year, they were 15-16.
BGSU will travel to Detroit on December 4 and will return home to face Bluffton, December 8 for a 7 p.m. contest.
