"This is the game I was hoping we would get to participate in," said BGSU Director of Athletics Paul Krebs. "Both MAC teams that have been to Mobile (Marshall and Miami) can not say enough about how well they have been treated. We are also excited because we have a strong alumni base nearby and a number of our players come from communities that are within driving distance to Mobile. In its brief history, the GMAC Bowl has a reputation as being one of the most exciting and well-run post season games."
This is the seventh bowl bid for BGSU, who defeated Northwestern 28-24 in the 2003 Motor City Bowl. BGSU also won the 1992 Las Vegas Bowl, the 1991 California Raisin Bowl and played in the 1982 and 1985 Raisin Bowls and 1961 Mercy Bowl.
