BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - Cory Eyink is the Bowling Green State University Scholar-Athlete of the Week. Eyink, a junior on the BGSU men's basketball team, helped the Falcons to a pair of wins last week.
Eyink, a native of Maria Stein, Ohio (Marion Local H.S.), scored 11 points and grabbed a pair of rebounds in the Falcons' 69-52 win at Northern Illinois Wednesday (Feb. 18). That win completed a BGSU season sweep of the Huskies.
Then, on Bracket Buster Saturday (Feb. 21). Eyink helped the Brown and Orange to a 76-64 win over Youngstown State, with three points and five rebounds.
On the season, Eyink is averaging 4.9 points and 3.0 rebounds per game. Eyink, who has started 11 games, is scoring 6.1 points per game in MAC play.
Eyink, a marketing major, maintains a cumulative grade point average of 3.23.
The Falcons, after a 79-76 overtime victory over Toledo Wednesday (Feb. 25), are 13-13 overall and 8-7 in Mid-American Conference play heading into a pair of key conference games. BGSU will host Ball State Saturday (Feb. 28), with tipoff set for 1:00 p.m. at Anderson Arena. Then, the Falcons will play a home game Monday (March 1), beginning at 8:00 p.m. and televised by Fox Sports Ohio.
