Falcons Place Third In All-Ohio Championships

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - The Bowling Green State University gymnastics team, with a score of 193.725, placed third in the All-Ohio Championships Sunday Afternoon (Feb. 8) inside Anderson Arena. Ohio State took home top honors with a score of 195.450, while with a score of 195.375 Kent State finished second.
The Falcons are now 4-3 overall and 2-0 in league play, while OSU improves to 7-2 and 0-1 in conference, while KSU suffered their first loss of the season and now sit at 7-1, 3-0.
Overall, several Falcons had impressive showings. On vault senior Pia Sjovall placed third overall with a score of 9.825. Breanne Metzger placed second for BGSU on vault with a 9.700.
Junior Kari Elste placed second on the bars with a 9.875, while Melissa Popovich placed in a three-way tie for fourth with a 9.825.
Kristin DiPietro led all BGSU performers on the beam with a dazzling 9.775. Metzger was close behind with a 9.725.
The Falcons shined on the floor exercise with all six performers surpassing the 9.700 mark. Popovich posted a 9.950 for a three-way tie for first in the event. Sjovall score a 9.925 and sophomore Jessica Guyer recorded a 9.850.
Up next for the Brown & Orange is a trip to Kalamazoo, Michigan for a 1:00 p.m. showdown with the Western Michigan Broncos on Sunday, February 15.
