Postgame Quotes
On his winning TD
"The play had been working all day and the blockers did a great job once I got into the open field. I have to credit James Hawkins for that great job on the corner knocking him down. That's what happens when everybody does their job."
On the running backs
"There is a lot of competition but we are one big group."
"My goal was to just come out and produce. It's good experience to come out and practice the fundamentals and focus."
"Our offensive line did a great job protecting me."
"It's nice to have all your receivers back because they have been through the wars and big games that I haven't been in yet. "
On comparisons to Josh Harris
"Josh came in as more of runner earlier in his career, where I am more of a pocket guy.
On his interception at the end of the game
"Coach Brandon sort of called me out as they were driving and it was like 'its your time go make a play,' that's what he wanted to see. (Brad) Williams tipped the ball and I got it. I'm just trying to step up."
"I thought our guys played full speed on both sides of the ball. I liked our work in the kicking game, Suisham was perfect. To scrimmage that kicking game live was good for us. That is a tough thing to do."
"Omar did some nice things and Van Johnson really showed up. I was really impressed with Van today as well as Nick Thurman who did some good things as well. Omar has got to be better for us to win championships and he will be. He has 29 practices and three preseason games and he is going to be in the fire early."
"Our backs ran really hard today."
"On defense we missed some tackles, but boy when we did get around the ball we were hitting. T.J. Carswell just jumped out at me. We made some plays, made a couple of interceptions and our I thought our defensive line was very impressive."
"We got out of it what we wanted. Nobody got hurt."
"We just wanted to get guys to play football and to see how they were going to react to live situations."
