Falcons Host Oakland, Then Take On Rival Toledo This Weekend

Bowling Green, Ohio - Bowling Green (25-14 overall, 10-8 MAC) hosts Oakland University on Wednesday, May 12, at 3 p.m. before playing a three-game league series at Toledo (15-30 overall, 6-12) this upcoming weekend (May 14-16).
The Falcons are fifth in the MAC West Division, one game back of Northern Illinois and Eastern Michigan for a bid in the MAC Postseason Tournament, which takes place May 26-29.
300 Wins at Warren Steller Field
BGSU took two of three games from league-leading Miami last weekend. The two victories gave the Falcons 300 wins at Warren Steller Field for a .589 winning pct. over the field's 41-year history (300-208-7). Warren Steller coached baseball at BGSU for 31 years between 1925 and 1959, compiling a 221-154-0 record during that time.
Danny Schmitz Two Wins Away from 375
BGSU Head Coach Danny Schmitz needs two more wins to reach career victory number 375. He currently has a 373-339-4 record in 14 seasons at Bowling Green (.524 pct.). Schmitz is the all-time leader at BGSU in wins. He is 10th all-time in career wins among MAC coaches and fifth all-time in league victories (198).
Neil Schmitz (no relation) Nearing MAC Record for Appearances
Neil Schmitz (St. Henry, Ohio) has a BGSU record 87 career apperances in his four years at Bowling Green. His 87 appearances are only six shy of the MAC record held by Matt Speicher of Ball State (93, from 1996-99). Schmitz also holds the BGSU record for career saves with 17. That number ranks him eighth all-time in MAC history.

Nolan Reimold Twice Named MAC West POW in 2004
SO Nolan Reimold has been named MAC West Division Player of the Week twice this season. The sophomore rightfielder was POW on March 1 after batting .545 in a three-game series at Dayton, including two homers, two doubles and seven RBIs. He was then named MAC Co-POW on April 26 after batting .500 (8-for-16) with five RBIs over the course of four games, including .583 in a three-game series at Kent State with one homer, one double and five RBIs.
Nolan Reimold Ranked Nationally in Slugging Pct. and Batting Avg.
SO Nolan Reimold (Greenville, Pa.) is ranked 23rd in the nation with his .727 slugging pct. and 34th nationally with his .403 batting avg. He is ranked second (slugging) and third (average), respectively, in those categories in the MAC. Reimold tied a school record with two triples in a game at Buffalo on April 11 and had two home runs in his very next game on April 14 vs. Cleveland State. One of his home runs on April 14 was a two-run, two-out, walk-off homer against CSU. He finished the month of April with a .437 batting avg. and .817 slugging pct. In 38 contests this season, he has 16 multiple-hit games and 11 multiple-RBI games. In his right-field position, he has recorded 64 putouts and four assits with no errors.
Tyler Johnson Suffering No Sophomore Slump
SO Tyler Johnson (Tipp City, Ohio) leads BGSU and is third in the league with a 2.49 ERA in 47 innings of work. Johnson has a 4-3 record with one save in 13 apperances. He is second on the team with 45 strikeouts and just 14 walks and is holding opposing batters to a .262 batting avg. Johnson struck out a career-high eight vs. Duquesne on March 7 (8-1 win) while pitching a career-high 7.1 innings vs. Ball State on March 27 (2-1 win). He has allowed more than two earned runs in only two apperances this season.
Eric Lawson Not Playing Like a Rookie
FR Eric Lawson (Milford, Ohio) is fifth among BGSU starters with his .326 batting avg. The second baseman has appeared in all 39 BGSU games while making 32 starts. He is third on the team with 132 at-bats and .480 slugging pct. Lawson has eight doubles, one triple and three home runs for 20 RBIs. In just his third collegiate game, Lawson recorded six RBIs and his first career home run at Dayton (Feb. 29).
BGSU Hit Parade
Bowling Green improved its batting average by eight percentage points over the weekend by batting .372 in the three-game series against Miami. The Falcons raised their average from .287 to .295 thanks to 45 hits, including 20 in a 14-13 loss on May 9. Of the 20 hits, only three went for extra bases. The Falcons' .295 overall average is fifth in the MAC, while their .321 average in league play is second to Central Michigan's .328.
Brotherly Love in BG
SO outfielder Nolan Reimold is a standout for this year's baseball team, a two-time MAC POW and leading the team in batting avg. (.403), home runs (10) and RBIs (38). His brother, JR John Reimold, was a standout this past season on the hardwood for BGSU. The elder Reimold was second on the team with 15.1 ppg. while leading the team in 3-pointers (65) and 3-point pct. (.390). The brothers hail from Greenville, Pa.
