Track Finishes Ninth At MAC Championships

OXFORD, Ohio - The final day of the 2004 Outdoor MAC Championships concluded Saturday afternoon in Oxford, Ohio, with the Bowling Green State University track & field squad finishing ninth with 40 points, improving upon a tenth-place finish at the 2003 Championships.
Liz Honegger captured the discus crown with a toss of 148-05, nearly six feet longer then the nearest competitor.
Senior Alicia Taylor score five points in the 200-meter dash with a fourth-place finish with a 24.72.
Melissa Krueger set a personal-best time of 4:35.26 in the 1500-meters for an eighth-place finish.
Friday's Action
Kerri McClung continued her solid MAC meet with a third-place finish in the shot put, a new BGSU record of 50-02, surpassing the previous mark of 50-01.75 set by Nikki Lessig in 1994.
Senior Amber Culp placed fourth in the 3,000-meter steeplechase with a regional qualifying time of 10:50.40 to score five points for the Orange & Brown.
As a team the Falcons scored five points in the long jump, with four coming from Erica Wilson (18-10.75) and one from Veronica Vance (18-07.00).
Thursday's Action
Day one of the competition saw two BGSU throwers score points for the Falcons. Senior Kerri McClung posted a mark of 160-01 in the hammer throw, her season-best, to finish seventh in the meet. Freshman Andrean Bunko registered four points in the javelin throw with a personal-best distance of 141-08.
