NCBWA Names Andy Hudak National Co-Hitter of the Week

The National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) released its National Hitter and Pitcher of the Week awards for the period ending May 25, today. Bowling Green junior infielder Andy Hudak and Baylor junior designated hitter Josh Ford have been named National Co-Hitters of the Week, while Cal State Fullerton's senior RHP Jason Windsor and East Carolina junior RHP Greg Bunn were named National Co-Pitchers of the Week. The NCBWA Board reviews candidates from each Division I Conference each week and names winners each Tuesday throughout the season.
Bowling Green's Hudak, from Toledo, Ohio, batted .692 in four games last week, pounding out nine hits in 13 at-bats. He homered in the final two games and finished the year on a five-game hitting streak, his longest of the season. In the three-game series vs. Western Michigan, Hudak was 8-for-12 (.667) with five runs scored, a 1.167 slugging percentage and .714 on-base percentage.
Hudak was named the Mid-American Conference Player of the Week on Monday. The Start High School graduate finished the season with a .357 batting average in 41 games played, fourth-best on the Falcon squad and 18th-best in the MAC. He had a team-high 15 doubles along with four home runs and 32 RBIs.
Ford, a Baytown, Texas, native, lashed three home runs in his final two games at Texas Tech and ended the week with four homers, six RBI, and a 4-for-4 "cycle" showing in the final game at Lubbock with a single, double, triple, and HR. He was 11-for-18 (.611) in five games overall while racking up 27 total bases and a 1.500 slugging percentage.
Windsor, a Saratoga, Calif., native, hurled his sixth consecutive complete game to help CSF clinch the Big West championship. Windsor went all 10 innings in the marathon matchup against LBSU's Jered Weaver, allowing one run on five hits and two walks while striking out a career-high 12 batters. He retired the first 11 batters of the game and the final 10 batters of the game.
Bunn, a Wake Forest, N.C., native, threw eight shutout innings at Southern Miss, holding the league's second-best hitting team to just five hits as East Carolina clinched the regular season C-USA title with a 9-0 win. He struck out six and walked three in raising his season record to 8-0. It was Bunn's fourth combined shutout this season.
