BGSU Hires Shirelle Jackson and Jeff Curley.

Bowling Green, Ohio - Bowling Green State University has named Shirelle Jackson as Assistant Director of Student-Athlete Services. "I am excited to return to Bowling Green to assist student-athletes achieve excellence in academics, career development and other life skills," said Jackson. "I love walking down this familiar path with student-athletes as they strive for success both in the classroom and in their athletic endeavors." Jackson came to BGSU after serving as Assistant Athletic Director for Student Development at Eastern Connecticut State University the past two years. While there, she created and oversaw the student-athlete development program for all 325 student-athletes. Prior to being named assistant athletic director at ECSU, Jackson was the athletic academic counselor from 2000-02 at the school. Jackson was the Central Connecticut State University admission representative in 1999 and served as learning assistant coordinator at CCSU in 1998. She also was an intern in 1997-98 in the University of Hartford athletic department. "We're really excited that Shirelle is returning to Bowling Green," said Dr. Naomi Lee, Asst. AD for Student-Athlete Services. "We think she will be a great role model for our student-athletes since she herself was a student-athlete here at BGSU." The Cincinnati, Ohio native is a 1994 graduate of BGSU, earning a degree in fashion merchandising. Jackson was a member of the Falcon track and field program where she was named Outstanding Female Track Athlete in 1991. She received her master of science degree from CCSU in 1998. She is a member of the National Association of Collegiate Women Athletics Administration (NACWAA) and National Association of Academic Advisors for Athletics. Her husband, BGSU graduate Jason Jackson, have two boys, Justin and Jordan, and reside in Bowling Green. * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * * Bowling Green State University has announced the hiring of Jeff Curley as assistant athletic trainer for the upcoming season. Curley comes to BGSU after serving as head athletic trainer for Adrian College for the past four years. While at Adrian College, Curley served as the athletic trainer for the school's football program, as well as supervised a full-time and student staff for the 15 other sports since August, 1999. While working for Adrian College, Curley also served at interim athletic trainer for the Toledo Storm hockey team between December, 2003 through January, 2004. Prior to Adrian College he served as head athletic trainer for Eureka College (1995-99), athletic trainer for the Peoria Pirates, Indoor Football League (1999), assistant athletic trainer for Morehead State University from 1995-1999 and served as a graduate assistant for the University of North Carolina from 1989-1991. Curley received his master's degree in physical education, exercise and sports science in 1995 from the University of North Carolina after earning his undergraduate degree in physical education from Whittier College in 1989.
