Recap | Final Stats | Notes
"The start of the MAC season, that is when the pressure really starts. This is when the real season began. Give Buffalo credit, they fought for all 40 minutes and I'm just glad we came out on top."
"We were trying to get Josh (Almanson) inside. Josh got inside a few times, made a few baskets. Theone where Fitch cut down the middle he saved me, I was trapped in the corner. That was a huge cut, he recognized it and that was a big play, I thought that broke their back a little bit."
On the Oakland loss
"You just have to look past it the best you can. You have to remember it the in the back of your mind because if we don't play hard that is what can happen... Again, this was the start of the MAC season and regardless if we were 0-8 coming into this game it didn't really matter. Everyone was 0-0 at this stage and we just came out focused trying to get the 'W'."
"That is how we hope to get 'W's this year by out-toughing our opponents."
"I don't think it was bad defense by either team, it was just that type of game up and down and both teams were kind of in the flow."
BGSU Coach Dan Dakich
"I am just really proud of our team I thought that our team...what a game. It was hot as heck in the gym, both teams running up and down, we didn't stop them much, they didn't stop us much and I thought they were really, really tough and I thought we were really, really tough and we just made a couple more plays at the end of the game and made our free throws."
"My goal here is to lead the nation in scoring while leading the nation in defense. It felt like everybody was trying and when we shoot 70 percent and they shoot 61 percent....like I said, it felt like everyone was trying."
"We have seen seven of their nine games coming in and going underneath screens, making them shoot jumpshots is the way to play them and they hit them. When we adjusted they back-pedaled. But I thought that we had real, real heart tonight and I'm real proud of the team."
"I thought his buckets (Germain Fitch) were huge and I thought Cory Eyink's three spread the game out to where it wasn't comfortable but we were going to at least be ahead after the next possession because they were scoring and we were scoring so you kind of wanted to get ahead and I thought kind of opened it up a little bit."
"Josh was cramping up bad and he didn't want to tell me couldn't go. I thought he showed incredible toughness, I thought Steven (Wright) and (John) Floyd and (John) Reimold playing the minutes they played in this heat."
"I just thought we were really tough tonight and we talked about it since we got back from Oakland that we would have to be to win the game."
"I thought this was a great opportunity number one and a great measure number two. A great opportunity to come back and play against a team that is picked to win the other side. A great measure of our team to see how we will bounce back and I thought we handled both of them."
Coach Reggie Witherspoon
"I thought this was a hard fought game and I thought Bowling Green did a great job of sustaining energy and drive. It was a fast-paced game and it looked like the first team that ran out of gas was going to lose and it looks like they didn't run out of gas."
