Jordan Named MAC East Defensive Player of the Week

CLEVELAND, Ohio - Bowling Green senior cornerback Jelani Jordan was named Mid-American Conference Defensive Player of the Week after recording a career-high two interceptions in a 70-7 win over Temple. The Atlanta, Georgia, native also posted five tackles, including one tackle for loss.
For the season Jordan is tied for the team lead with two interceptions. He also has 20 tackles and a fumble recovery on the year.
WEST DIVISION
Offensive Player of the Week
Ontario Sneed, running back, Central Michigan (Fr., Decatur, Ill./Clinton Community)
Sneed led the Chippewas to a 31-17 win at Akron with 260 all-purpose yards and three touchdowns. Sneed carried the ball 21 times for 183 yards and a touchdown and added 77 yards and two scores on six receptions. Sneed's first score came on a 45-yard reception to cut the Zips' lead to a 10-7 in the second quarter. With the game tied at 17-all in the fourth quarter, Sneed tallied scores on a 50-yard run and a 10-yard reception for the winning points.
Defensive Player of the Week
Daniel Holtzclaw, linebacker, Eastern Michigan (Fr., Enid, Oklahoma/Enid) Led the Eagles to a 27-20 win over Kent State to grab first place in the MAC West Division with a 2-0 record. Holtzclaw had an interception return for eight yards, two solo tackles and nine assists, as well as a half-tackle for a loss in yards. The Eagles' defense limited the Golden Flashes to seven points in the first three quarters as EMU built a 27-7 lead.
Special Teams Player of the Week
Jim Laney, punter, Western Michigan (So., Toledo, Ohio/Saint Francis de Sales) In the Broncos' 31-21 win over Buffalo, Laney helped with establishing field position by averaging 39.6 ypk on seven punts. Three times he pinned the Bulls inside their own 20-yard line and had a long punt of 47 yards.
EAST DIVISION
Offensive Player of the Week
Martin Nance, wide receiver, Miami (Sr., Maryland Heights, Mo./Pattonville)
Nance had his fourth consecutive game with at least 100 yards receiving as he totaled eight receptions for a season-high 119 yards and two touchdowns in a 44-16 win over Cincinnati. Nance grabbed a 16-yard scoring pass from Josh Betts in the second quarter for a 17-0 margin. He then hauled in a 21-yard touchdown early in the fourth frame for a solid 30-10 lead.
Defensive Player of the Week
Jelani Jordan, cornerback, Bowling Green (Sr., Atlanta, Ga./Riverwood)
Jordan intercepted a career-high two passes in a 70-7 win over Temple as the Falcons forced a season-high five turnovers. Jordan added five tackles and a tackle for a loss.
Special Teams Player of the Week
Todd Soderquist, placekicker, Miami (Sr., College Grove, Tenn./Battle Ground Academy) Soderquist matched a career-high with 13 points in Miami's 44-16 win over Cincinnati. Soderquist connected on 3-of-4 field goals overall including three field goals in each of the first three quarters as the RedHawks built a 23-10 lead.
