BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - Baseball America has slated former Falcon outfielder Nolan Reimold as the number one prospect coming from the Class A New York-Penn League. The October 10th issue of Baseball America chose the top ten prospects from each minor league with Reimold topping the list for the New York-Penn League after an outstanding year with the Aberdeen IronBirds.
After batting .360 with 20 homeruns and 62 RBI during his junior season with BGSU, Reimold was drafted by the Baltimore Orioles in the second round, 61st pick overall in the 2005 June draft.
In 50 games with the Aberdeen IronBirds, the Greenville, PA native hit for .294 with nine homeruns and 30 RBI.
From the October 10th issue of Baseball America:
"Reimold slumped this spring at Bowling Green when he tried too hard to impress scouts, but once he relaxed, he led NCAA Division I in slugging percentage (.770), went in the second round to the Orioles and proved himself to be a five-tool player in the N-Y-P.
At 6-foot-4 and 207 pounds, it's no surprise that Reimold has plus power. But he also ran better than expected, showing above-average speed and moving from right field to center. He had no problem making the jump to the high Class A Carolina League, where he homered six times in 23 games.
`There is no doubt he can hit,' Tri-City manager Gregg Langbehn said. `And he made some great plays defensively and he has an above-average arm.'"
