Men's Golf Signs Two

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - Bowling Green State University men's golf head coach Garry Winger has announced the signing of two student-athletes to National Letters of Intent. John Powers (Bowling Green, Ohio) and Matt Schneider (Grand Rapids, Minn.) will join the Falcon program for the 2006-07 academic year.
Powers, the son of former BGSU hockey coach Buddy Powers, finished 15th at the United States Junior Amateur Championships, shooting a 140 (66-74). He finished the year ranked the #2 junior golfer in Ohio. His other accomplishments included a fourth-place finish at the Ohio Junior Championships as well as a ninth-place finish at the AJGA Fidelity Investments Junior Classic.
Schneider earned medalist at the PGA Junior Section Championships with a 143 (71-72). He finished the year as the #2 ranked junior golfer in Minnesota. Schneider also finished 28th at the Westfield PGA National Championships and was runner-up at the Sioux City Regional Juniors.
The Falcons, who just completed their fall season, will take the next three months off until they head to South Carolina for the CSU Spring Kickoff Classic on Feb. 20-21.
