BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - Post-game reactions after the Bowling Green State University women's basketball team posted a 78-50 win over visiting IPFW Friday night ...
HEAD COACH Curt Miller
"I'm pleased with game one. I don't think there's a coach in the country who feels like they're ready on opening weekend. Certainly, we only have a portion of our eventual offensive and defensive schemes in, but I was pleased with our effort tonight. I thought we did a nice job limiting their rebounding and second chances, and weathered the storm of a very good offensive team. They have some very good offensive players, some good shooters. We weathered the storm, came out and did a great job in the second half."

"IPFW can beat you in two different ways. They can beat you with their speed and athleticism in the backcourt, which can be very explosive. But, they also can beat you with their size. A real point of emphasis wasfor us over the last 48 hours was the boards. Rebounding was a real key, and I'm proud that we held them to four offensive rebounds."
(On the play of Amber Flynn)
"I have been telling people that she has had an incredible off-season. She is in the best shape of her life, and it shows in her ability to get up and down the court. We recruited a very quick and explosive power forward out of high school, and we're seeing the player that we recruited. She is going to have a big impact in our post rotation."
(What else did you learn about your team tonight?)
"I think, in the first couple games of the season, it is a great opportunity to roll people out there. I think we got some butterflies out; it was a great opportunity to work out some of the kinks."
(On Kate Achter)
"She is the engine out there. She sets the pace for us offensively. We ask an awful lot of our point guards in this system, and she is very valuable for us; she makes the offense work. Kate's still not at 100 percent, after being out for over a month of the preseason with mono. As her conditioning gets better and better, we will see a very good sophomore year out of her."
JUNIOR Liz Honegger
(On opening the season)
"I was extremely nervous, personally. I think, as a team, we just wanted to come out and get the first game out of the way. We didn't want a letdown, and it feels good to come out of it with a win."
(On the Falcons' success inside)
"Their defense was getting spread out a bit, so we had a lot of one-on-one battles inside. That was a strong point of emphasis from our coaching staff; they really wanted us to get it inside and take care of those advantages that we had."
JUNIOR Amber Flynn
(On contributing off the bench)
"I feel great; I feel like I'm playing the best that I've ever played. I want to help in any way, and that was my attitude heading into the summer; to get better, and help my team any way I could."
"We have been working on a lot of boxing out and rebounding drills. A lot of those things came into play today."
