The following are post game notes from Saturday's 24-14 BGSU win o ver Kent State.
The Falcons now lead the series 52-15-6 and have won the last three meetings in Kent.
BGSU is 3-0 on the road in the MAC.
The Falcons have won on its last three visits to Kent (2000, 2002, and 2005).
The Falcons and Miami are tied for the MAC East lead with 4-2 records and will play November 15 at 7 p.m. on ESPN2 in Oxford.
BGSU allowed a season-low 25 yards rushing.
BGSU tied its season best with five sacks.
The 247 yards allowed by BGSU was its second best defensive effort of the season (239 vs. Ohio).
Four players (Anthony Turner, Steve Sanders, Van Johnson and Corey Partridge) attempted a pass for the Falcons in the game.
BGSU's 113 yards passing was its fewest since the 2000 visit to Kent when the Falcons threw for 111 yards.
Senior P.J. Pope had his fourth rushing TD of the season and 33rd of his career. He tied Bernard White (1984-85) for third place on the all-time BGSU list in that category. His 41 overall career TDs ties Dave Preston for second place on the all-time BGSU list with Dave Preston (1973-76).
Senior Joe Timchenko had his first field goal of the season a 27-yard effort in the second quarter.
Senior Nate Fry had a season-high seven punts and a 41.0 average. He also landed two of his kicks inside the 20.
Senior Mike Thaler and freshman Diyral Briggs teamed up for the Falcons first sack of the game. A play later, junior Terrel White and junior Devon Parks coupled for a sack which ended a Golden Flash drive. White later had a sack on his own in the third quarter. They were the first sacks of his career.
Thaler added a fourth quarter sack and now has five this season. Briggs also added a fourth quarter sack and has five this season as well.
Senior Teddy Piepkow had the first forced fumble of his career.
Junior Van Johnson, who began the season as a defensive back, played five plays at quarterback in the second quarter, after Anthony Turner briefly left the game after being shaken up.
Senior Jelani Jordan had his first forced fumble of the season and fourth of his career and Briggs recovered his second fumble of the season.
Turner threw his second TD pass of the season, a one-yard effort to junior Ruben Ruiz. It was Ruiz' second TD catch of the season.
The Falcons held KSU to just 24 yards rushing in the first half.
Redshirt freshman John Haneline had his first career interception in the third quarter.
Turner had his third rushing TD of the season on a three-yard scamper in the third quarter.
Sophomore Loren Hargrove made his first career start at strong safety.
Freshman Corey Partridge completed a 36-yard pass to P.J. Pope for his first career completion.
Senior Charles Sharon tied former teammate Cole Magner for the BGSU career lead in receptions at 215 with his three catches.
