Recap | Box Score | Notes
Head Coach Dan Dakich
"They were a tough team. They got the ball inside, they had a kid, Eggins, make a couple of shots that he is capable of making and he did a good job in that stretch. His stats weren't great coming into the game, he just went up, lifted up and made shots..."
"Our kids battled. I thought our kids battled really hard, I thought our kids competed but at the end of the day, we didn't do the things we needed to, to win the game.
On Matt Lefeld's career-high 17-point performance...
"I think he was pretty good. He made some turnovers early and kept battling and I liked Erik, too. I thought Erik battled pretty good."
"We put them on the line 46 times. You might take 10 of them away at the end of the game but that is still 36 times and that is not good enough."
"They went to a little bit of a zone, we scored the first three times. Then, we missed a shot, missed another one in the lane and I thought that was kind of the stretch. They took Matt a little bit away from us in the zone but I don't know. We had a chance to fold up shop and we didn't, we had a pretty good look at a three that I thought John (Floyd) had off of a timeout, we set a double and pinched back to him for a three. He got a good look, missed it and I think that would've cut the lead to three with maybe a minute to go in the game. We didn't get that done, didn't make the plays. They did, we didn't and that was the difference in the basketball game."
On the play of Dusan Radivojevic...
"The doctor said we could play Steven (Wright) between 20-25 minutes, we need production from somewhere and with Samarco being out, Dusan (Radivojevic), I thought, in that stretch when we were down 13 hit a couple of big shots, got a lay-up, played alright. Found Floyd in the opposite corner for a three and maybe he's coming along. We're just not getting enough out of guys to win basketball games right now. But hopefully, as this goes on, guys get healthy, if guys show up on time for things, we'll get this going in our direction."
On Steven Wright's performance in his first game back...
"I thought it was pretty good. I didn't like his defense to start the game, but I didn't like anybody's defense to start the game. Steven hasn't played a whole lot, obviously, in practice even. Steven's going to have an excellent year this year , he's going to have a great year. To expect him to come in here after sitting out 10 weeks, practicing three days, expect him to do the things that he did, seems like an awful lot. We've got a week here to work, two games and then we've got another week or two to work and we're going to keep doing that. Steven is obviously a big part and hopefully he'll continue to work hard."
