Gymnast Host Kent State This Friday

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - The Bowling Green State University gymnastics team will look to rebound from last weekends loss to Eastern Michigan, as they host Kent State this Friday (Feb. 4) night inside the Eppler Center. The meet is scheduled to begin at 7:00 p.m.
Last Weeks Action Versus Eastern Michigan
The Bowling Green State University gymnastics team fell 193.900-191.875 last Saturday afternoon to the Eastern Michigan Eagles. Senior Kristin DiPietro led the Falcons with a third-place finish in the all-around with a score of 38.475.
Despite the loss, the Falcons did have their top performance of the young season on the vault (48.200) and beam (48.525). Junior Jessica Guyer led all competitors on the vault with a 9.775, while freshman Candice Deacon finished in a tie for first on the beam with a 9.750, in her first collegiate competition.
Home Sweet Home
In the next 14 days, BGSU will host Kent State (Feb. 4), Western Michigan (Feb. 13) and will close out the home schedule with Senior Day in a tri-meet versus Southeast Missouri State and Wisconsin-Oshkosh (Feb 18).
The Falcons are 1-0 at home this season with a win over Ball State and are 21-7 at home since the 1999-2000 season.
A Look At The Flashes
Recording season-bests on all five events, the Kent State University gymnastics team (2-1, 1-0 MAC) dominated Ball State University (0-6, 0-3 MAC) 194.775-190.225 last Friday night (Jan. 28) in Memorial Athletic and Convocation Center.
The Flashes are led by Carrie Mayle, who posted a 38.825 in the all-around last weekend. Erika Linnersten is also coming off a strong performance, where she posted a 9.725 on vault, 9.875 on bars and 9.875 on beam.
Schedule Reminder
Following the meet with Kent State the Falcons will once again hit the road as they will travel to Northern Illinois (Feb. 6), before returning home on Feb. 13, as they host Western Michigan at 2:00 p.m. The meet with the Broncos is scheduled to air on BCSN.
