CLEVELAND, Ohio (BGSUFalcons.com) - Bowling Green State University women's basketball sophomore Ali Mann has been named a Mid-American Conference Player of the Week, the league office announced Monday (Feb. 14). Mann earns the honor for the second time this season and the third time in her Falcon career.
Mann, a forward from Chelsea, Mich., averaged 15.5 points and a team-high 8.5 rebounds per game as the Falcons picked up a pair of road wins last week. Mann shot a combined 52.4 percent from the field in victories over Ball State (69-49; Feb. 8) and Akron (61-52; Feb. 12).
In the Falcons' win in Muncie, Mann had 14 points and tied for game honors with nine rebounds. She went 7-for-11 from the field. Then, she had a game-high 17 points, including 15 in the second half, in the win at UA.
On the season, Mann is averaging 13.3 points and 7.5 rebounds per game, good for second on the team in each category. In MAC games, Mann leads the team in both scoring and rebounding, with 14.0 points and 7.7 boards per game in conference contests.
Mann shares this week's West Division Player-of-the-Week honor with Eastern Michigan's Ryan Coleman. Miami's Nicki Motto earned the East Division award.
The Falcons of head coach Curt Miller (16-6, 9-2 MAC), winners of four consecutive games, play three of the next four games at home, beginning tomorrow (Feb. 15). BGSU hosts Central Michigan in a 7:00 p.m. start at venerable Anderson Arena.
