Cleveland, Ohio - Bowling Green State University senior forward John Reimold was named MAC West Player of the Week after leading the Falcons to victories over Arkansas-Little Rock and Ball State. It was the second time this season he earned the award and third time in his career that he was honored.
Reimold scored a season-high 29 points and had seven rebounds and five assists against UALR. He also made a career-high 12 of 12 free throws against the Trojans. In that game, Reimold scored 26 second-half points and scored 12 of the Falcons' 18 points in the final 3:49 to break a 56-56 tie. Against Ball State, he had 28 points, four rebounds and two assists and steals and blocked a potential go-ahead shot by BSU's Terrance Chapman with nine seconds left and made three of four free throws in the final five seconds as BGSU held on for a one-point win.
For the week he made 16 of 33 field goals, 6/19 three-pointers and 19 of 22 free throws.
He and senior teammate Josh Almanson are the only duo in the country averaging 18 points or more for the same team. They averaged 52 of the Falcons' 72 points last week and scored 38 of the final 42 BGSU points against Arkansas-Little Rock.
Almanson had 20 points, seven rebounds and two blocked shots in the win over Ball State and had a career-high four three-point field goals as the Falcons snapped a three-game losing streak to the Cardinals. Against UALR, Almanson scored 15 of the Falcons' first 27 points and finished with 27 points overall as he made three more shots from long distance. He made a basket at the end of the first half that halted a 9-0 UALR run and his jumper with two minutes left in the game, extended the Falcon lead to 62-57.
For the week, Almanson made 17 of 28 field goal attempts (60.7), 7 of 11 three-pointers (63.6) and 6 of 6 free throws. He also averaged five rebounds.
