Falcons Push Past Bearcats, 4-3

TOLEDO, Ohio - The Falcons were able to come from behind during singles play to defeat Cincinnati 4-3 at Shadow Valley Tennis Club, Friday afternoon (Feb. 25). With the win Bowling Green has increased their record to 7-4 in dual-match play.
Doubles matches placed Susie Schoenberger and Heidi Romer up against Hannah Hinton and Samantha Liu. Hinton and Liu were able to take the win at 8-6. Andrea Volle and Andrea Meister lost an 8-3 decision to Jill Klauck and Julie Klauck.
Picking up the momentum was Ashley Jakupcin and Jenna Nussbaum who captured a 9-7 victory over Cristina Reyes and Lindsay Brown.
Single matched proved to be the key for the Falcons who were able to come from behind to pick up valuable matches from the Bearcats.
At the first flight Schoenberger defeated Reyes with a 6-1, 6-2 outcome. Second flight pitted Jakupcin and Hinton in which Jakupcin captured the win at 6-2, 6-0.
The Falcons lost at both the third and fourth flight but were able to come back with fifth and sixth flight victories. Romer was able to pull through with a three-set match at the fifth flight against Julie Klauck 2-6, 6-4, 6-1. Also adding a victory for the Falcons was Andrea Meister with a 6-0, 6-4 win over Lindsay Brown.
The Falcons will take on the Musketeers of Xavier at noon on Sunday (Feb. 27) at the Shadow Valley Tennis Club in Toledo, Ohio.
