Three National TV Appearances Highlight 2005 Schedule

Bowling Green, Ohio - Three nationally televised games and a renewal of several MAC East rivalries highlight the 2005 Bowling Green State University football schedule.
"I think the national exposure gives us a great opportunity to showcase our program and the quality players we have at BGSU," said third-year coach Gregg Brandon. "The ratings show that regardless of when a college football game is played, people will watch. We have a style of play that is unique and we have proven that we can play with anyone in the country."
The Falcons will play on ESPN2 at Boise State (September 21) and at Miami (November 15) and at home against Toledo (November 22). In addition, the season opener at Wisconsin (September 3) is an attractive matchup that could be picked up by television later this year.
With a return to the MAC's East Division, BGSU will face Buffalo (on the road October 15) and Akron (at home October 29) for the first time since the 2001 season. With the MAC schedule for BGSU beginning September 10 at Ball State, the Falcons do not play a home game in September, but play four home dates in five weeks during October.. Homecoming will be October 1 when the Falcons host Temple and Family Weekend will take place October 22 when BGSU takes on Western Michigan. The October 8 game with Ohio will be Faculty/Staff/Varsity BG/Hall of Fame/Youth Night and also will take place during Fall Break when students are away from campus.
"We're very excited about the opportunity to appear on national television and look forward to those annual renewed rivalries that come with our move back to the East," said BGSU Director of Athletics Paul Krebs. "I'm disappointed, however, that we now have a home game over Fall Break . Students make up a significant portion of our attendance figure and having a home game at this time is difficult to accept. We have always requested a road game during this week and the league has been able to accomodate us up until this season. It certainly presents a challenge for us."
