BGSU's Craig Pickerel Named Cleveland Golf All-America Scholar

Bowling Green, Ohio - The Cleveland Golf All-America Scholars have been announced by the Golf Coaches Association of America. Included among the 88 overall honorees and seven Mid-American Conference golfers is Bowling Green State University's Craig Pickerel (Genoa, Ohio). Pickerel earns the honor for the second year in a row.
To be eligible for Cleveland Golf All-America Scholar status an individual must be a junior or senior academically and competed in at least two full years at the collegiate level, participate in 70 percent of his team's competitive rounds, have a stroke average under 76.0 in Division I, 78.0 in Division II and 79.0 in Division III and maintain a minimum cumulative grade-point average of 3.2 in Division I and 3.0 in Divisions II and III. A recipient must also be of high moral character and in good standing at his college or university.
Pickerel was named to the 2005 ESPN The Magazine Academic All-District IV University Division Men's At-Large First Team last week and to the Academic All-MAC Team on May 16 for the second consecutive year.
Pickerel was named the 2005 Sportsman of the Year at the Mid-American Conference Men's Golf Tournament on May 7, as voted on by fellow MAC golfers. He became the fifth Falcon to win this prestigious award.
Pickerel earned his undergraduate degree in architectural design (3.88 GPA) earlier this year and is taking graduate courses towards a master's degree in industrial technology with a 4.00 GPA.
He finished tied for 44th with a 72-hole score of 304 at the 2005 MAC Tournament.
