Men's Golf Captures John Piper Invitational; Sets Three New School Record

BOWLING GREEN, Ohio - The Bowling Green State University men's golf team shot a 54-hole score of 845 (-19) to secure victory at the fifth annual John Piper Intercollegiate Tuesday afternoon at Stone Ridge Golf Club. Marquette finished second with a team score of 854 (-10), with fellow MAC competitor Ohio finishing with a 858 (-6) to round out the top three.
For the two-day event the Brown and Orange established three new school records. On Monday they shot an 18-hole school record score of 275 (-13), eight strokes better then the previous-best 283, set back in 2001. BGSU also set new records for 36-holes, finishing with a 562 (-14) and 54-holes with an 845 (-19).
Brad Dearsman was the top Falcon finisher with a 4-under round of 212 (72-69-71), who finished third overall. Heath Ziglar (71-75-67) and Jace Walker (71-68-74) finished fourth overall, each posting a 213. Chris Leake (214) and Tommy Lopez (220) finished seventh and 20th overall.
Up next for the Falcons is a trip to Atlanta, Georgia.
