CLEVELAND, Ohio - Bowling Green State University's Omar Jacobs has been recognized as a Mid-American Conference Football Player of the Week, the league office announced Monday afternoon (Sept. 5). Omar Jacobs, quarterback, Bowling Green (Jr., Delray Beach, Fla./Atlantic Community)
Jacobs opened the season by completing 30 of 51 pass attempts for a career-high 458 yards and a Camp Randall Stadium opponent record five touchdowns in a 56-42 loss at Wisconsin. Jacobs connected on TD passes of 17, 18, 63, 10 and 20 yards and suffered just one interception.
Defensive Player of the Week
Matt Muncy, linebacker, Ohio (Jr., Miamisburg, Ohio/Miamisburg)
Muncy had a career-high 17 tackles in the Bobcats season opener at Northwestern, a 38-14 loss. He also was credited with a pass break up and 11 of his stops were solo. In a key series in the third quarter, Muncy recorded back-to-back solo tackles and an assist on a third to force a three-and-out by the Wildcats.
Special Teams Player of the Week
Matt Miller, punter, Ohio (Sr., Westerville, Ohio/Westerville North)
Miller punted nine times for an average of 40.4 ypk with a long boot of 58 yards at Northwestern. Twice he dropped the ball inside the NU 20-yard line, one at the 12 and the other at the 17.
West Division
Offensive Player of the Week
Garrett Wolfe, tailback, Northern Illinois (Jr., Chicago, Ill./River Grove Holy Cross)
Wolfe scorched the nation's No. 4 ranked Michigan Wolverines for 148 yards on 17 carries, including a 76-yard touchdown dash in the second quarter that closed the gap to 14-10 at the time. Despite a 33-17 loss, Wolfe averaged 8.7 yards per carry and teamed with fellow back A.J. Harris (58 yards, 10 carries) for 202 rushing yards at The Big House.
Defensive Player of the Week
Daniel Bazuin, defensive end, Central Michigan (Jr., McBain, Mich./McBain)
Bazuin garnered 10 tackles (9 solo, 1 assist), had two sacks and forced two fumbles in a 20-13 loss to Indiana. His sacks and forced fumbles came on consecutive plays in the third quarter and pushed IU out of field goal range, forcing a punt.
Special Teams Player of the Week
Nate Meyer, placekicker, Western Michigan (Jr., Farmington Hills, Mich./Farmington)
Meyer converted on four field goals in four attempts - both career highs - in a 31-19 loss at Virginia. Meyer connected from 42, 40, 31 and 32 yards. His final points came with 6:12 left in the third quarter to pull the Broncos to within five points at 24-19.

Offense: Michael Machen, quarterback, Kent State (21-of-31 for 293 yards, 2 TDs and 1 interception at Michigan State); Martin Nance, wide receiver, Miami (9 receptions for 106 at Ohio State in his first action back after a season ending in jury in 2004); Scott Mayle, wide receiver, Ohio (had 100 receiving yards and 211 total yards in a 38-14 loss at Northwestern).
Defense: Aaron Sanders, defensive end, Buffalo (8 tackles, 3 tackles for a loss and 2 sacks at Connecticut); Gary Ham, defensive back, Kent State (14 tackles, 9 solo, 1 forced fumble, 1 fumble recovery) at Michigan State; John Busing, linebacker, Miami (had a team-high 13 tackles in a 34-14 loss at Ohio State and had one tackle for a loss).
Special Teams: Jake Richardson, punter, Miami (punted 7 times for a 38.0 average in his collegiate debut with a long of 50 yards and one inside the 20).

Offense: Ontario Sneed, running back, Central Michigan (148 yards on 14 carries and an 80 yard touchdown run vs. Indiana); Richard Davis, running back, Toledo (111 yards on 13 carries, 1 touchdown vs. Western Illinois); Greg Jennings, wide receiver, Western Michigan (tied a school record with 16 receptions for 156 yards at Virginia).
Defense: Dustin Utschig, free safety, Northern Illinois (17 tackles, 10 solo, at Michigan); Anthony Jordan, linebacker, Toledo (9 tackles, 1 forced fumble vs. Western Illinois); C.J. Wilson, free safety, Western Michigan (had 7 tackles and scored on a 55-yard interception return at Virginia).
Special Teams: Rick Albreski, placekicker, Central Michigan (2-of-3 on field goals and 1-of-1 on PATs vs. Indiana in his college debut); Andrew Wellock, placekicker, Eastern Michigan (2-of-2 on field goal attempts at Cincinnati. Also averaged 43.8 ypk on 5 punts with 4 going inside the 20); Richard Davis, kickoff return, Toledo (returned a kick 94 yards for a touchdown vs. Western Illinois in just the second time he touched the ball in a college game).
